Our Faith, Our Family, Our Farm

sharing a bit about how we live

Our Faith, Our Family, Our Farm

The Beginning of the End…

the end of the school year that is!!!

We have begun the end of studies.

Awana finished this week.

Science through our coop finished last week!   We are using Considering God’s Creation for our primary class.  Christian Kids Explore Physics is the text for our middle elementary class.  We are using Apologia’s General Science, Abeka’s Physical Science, Biology and Chemistry for our highschool students.

We finished up the bulk of our unit studies this year! Our elementary children have finished a geography unit study,  Presidential and elections unit study based on books, Lapbooking of missionaries by Hands of a Child  and our colonial study that culminated in our trip to Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown with the MOMYS.

0310091101 Ok —> we probably had some fun on vacation too! This is the bulk of us at Hershey Chocolate World, in PA.

We have also been able to thankfully finish up some smaller things. Various children are all caught up in several things.  I praise GOD for a year of progress.

Homeschooling

This is a post moved over from my homeschool blogger that I am going to delete as I try and consolidate in one place.

I obviously haven’t checked this blog in forever – but alas I finally am doing planning for this year. Thought I would actually post here as it is school related.

I guess my biggest goal is that we get time in the Word daily. Too many times I’m worried about getting all the school done that I cut this short or skip it altogether if we oversleep, etc.  This is the most important part of my day.

We’ll also  be studying some missionaries, their time, geography and calling. We’re using the file folders from Hands of a Child and YWAM Missionary stories.

We’re doing some Sonlight, some Smarr Literature (on your own independent Senior in highschool).

We’re doing Teaching Textbooks *yeah!* and Horizon Math for the younger ones.

We’re using Christian Kids Explore Physics and Abeka highschool science for the older ones – in a coop setting.

I have 2 doing an Understanding the Times class outside of the home.

What are we not doing – Abeka Math for the younger kids – not enough instruction without doing the sit down school stuff.  We aren’t using Tapestry of Grace anymore, less Classical in our bent.  OH!!! we aren’t doing Saxon math for the bigs OR Spelling Power.Just things that haven’t worked out so well for us.

I have some children who just get it, school comes easily to them.  I have some children who do to brain injury or learning disability will not get it. And I have some who are just the middle ofthe road.  I’m praying God will BLESS this school year and our efforts to keep HIM First and look for ways to Honor Him.  I have given my plans to Him for this year and this is where we are.  I am such a planner type and want to have all my stuff ordered and here by now so what a stretch for me.

Peace and Blessings,
